Sweet Buttery Cookies ~ Yager Baby style

mmm that sweet homely smell, warms the soul of any house. It adds just an extra little touch of love.

The moment I mentioned making cookies, the girls started hounding me asking if they could crack the egg, pour the flour and mix.

I let them do it all.

I could see I wasn’t going to have much to do with them helping anyway.

They had fun!

Here’s how to make Sweet Buttery Cookies Yager Baby style!

First your going to need –

  • One egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 250 grams of softened butter
  • One cup of caster sugar
  • One and a half cups of plain flour

First you need to put your sugar and butter into a big bowl and with an electric mixer, beat together until pale and stiff. Then add your egg and vanilla essence and keep beating.

Once all combined, add your flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Can get a little hard, best to share the work!

Once it is all holding together, turn out onto a floured bench and roll and mix, and squash and tear and yes, even eat a little.

Once mum can manage to prise the cookie dough from little hands, roll it into roughly 30cm logs wrap in baking paper or cling wrap and pop into the freezer for two hours. Good thing about this is it gives time for snacks and naps.

So two hours up?

Pull them out of the freezer and give them 15 minutes to sit you can preheat your oven to 180. Then slice the logs into roughly 2cm pieces. Place on a baking tray.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Once they have cooled. DECORATE!

I made some icing just with half a cup of icing sugar, pink food colour adding a few drops of milk until it was a thick but usable consistency. Sprinkles, must have sprinkles.

These Sweet Buttery cookies are so moreish. Not good for Skinny Sunday’s however. The only bad thing with baking? You MUST taste one (or 3!)

Guess I’ll find out the damage tomorrow when we weigh in!

Have a beautiful day and for now I’m going to go fix this!
