Afternoon Magic

Yesterday the sunlight shone down in just the right way to make some natural magic. We decided to go out and soak it up into our pores.

The way it spliced down to greet us, giving us warm tingling shivers as we walked together. We watched all the pretty things, the bugs and moths, the way the light lit the green leaves the way it just made everything sparkle.

We walked up our drive way to an awesome flat, moist mossy spot. There is a natural spring that runs and fills the top damn.

It’s filled with frogs and dragonflies. The frog song and the iridescent bugs zipping about in the glowing light really is magical.

We imagined we were witches making potions. We hunted for pretty leaves, little leaves, red, orange and brown leaves.

SONY DSC

We plucked tiny, tiny flowers and threw them all in. Stirring with our wands.

Buddy kept hushing us. “Shh! Oook!” He’d say and point up into the trees. We’d all fall silent, much to his pleasure and we’d wait and watch for a bird to hop along a branch or until a kookaburra laughed at us making Bud smile; meaning the silence was ok to be broken now.

We found interesting yellow fungi that we all decided was poisonous and we were all too afraid to touch.

SONY DSC

We felt the moss beneath our palms all furry and soft.

SONY DSC

We slipped and slid on the slimy clay where the water had been trickling.

SONY DSC

We used long thin sticks to leave love hearts on the land so it knew it was cared for.

SONY DSC

We searched for logs to sit on, only we weren’t strong enough to drag them nearer where our potion bubbled away.

SONY DSC

We finally got cold, and finally the bugs decided we were delicious so we dressed again and made our way back home for a nice big bath and a baked chicken dinner.

SONY DSC

We all lay in bed talking about the magic in the front yard, wondering when the sun would glow like that again so we could go do it all over again.

SONY DSC

“Soon.” We said; and went to bed to dream of all the magic we found.

      1. Good to hear 🙂 They do grow so quick, soon they’ll be driving fast cars and chasing pretty girls (or giving them icy poles like Matty 😉 lol)
